What about the copyright of the pictures taken during the CERN Photowalk?

Answer

All participants in the CERN Photowalk will be required to sign a “Transfer of Copyright in Images” release, stating that the images that they take during the event and which they then choose to submit to CERN for the competition (i.e. not all the images that they take - only the ones they decide to submit to CERN) will become the copyright of CERN. However, participants will nonetheless be granted a perpetual, non-exclusive, geographically unrestricted licence to use the submitted images for their own purposes, and CERN’s use of any image submitted in the course of the event will be used with an appropriate credit for the photographer responsible for capturing the image. The release document will be provided to the chosen participants by the Organization ahead of the event.
